Port of Spain , also written as  Port-of-Spain , is the  capital  of the Republic of  Trinidad and Tobago  and the country's third-largest municipality, after  San Fernando  and  Chaguanas . The city has a municipal population of 49,031 (2000 census), [1]  a metropolitan population of 128,026 (1990 unofficial estimate) [2]  and a transient daily population of 250,000. [3]  It is located on the  Gulf of Paria , on the northwest coast of the island of  Trinidad  and is part of a larger conurbation stretching from Chaguaramas in the west to  Arima  in the east with an estimated population of 600,000. [4]

Paramaribo, Suriname

Paramaribo  ( Dutch pronunciation:  [ˌpaːraˈmaːriboː] , nickname:  Par′bo ) is the capital and largest city of  Suriname , located on banks of the  Suriname River  in the  Paramaribo District . Paramaribo has a population of roughly 250,000 people, more than half of Suriname's population. The historic inner city of Paramaribo has been a  UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002.

Georgetown Guyana

Georgetown  is the  capital  and largest city of  Guyana , located in the  Demerara-Mahaica  region. It is situated on the Atlantic Ocean coast at the mouth of the  Demerara River  and it was nicknamed 'Garden City of the Caribbean.' Georgetown is located at  6°48′N   58°10′W . The city serves primarily as a retail and administrative centre. It also serves as a financial services centre. The estimated population by the 2002 Guyana census was 239,227 inhabitants.

Caracas  ( Spanish pronunciation:  [kaˈɾakas] ), officially  Santiago de León de Caracas , is the capital and largest  city of  Venezuela . Caracas is located in the northern part of the country, following the contours of the narrow Caracas Valley on the  Venezuelan coastal mountain range  (Cordillera de la Costa). Terrain suitable for building lies between 760 and 910 m (2,490 and 2,990 ft)  above sea level . The valley is close to the  Caribbean Sea , separated from the coast by a steep 2,200 m (7,200 ft) high  mountain range ,  Cerro El Ávila ; to the south there are more hills and mountains. Valencia, Venezuela

Valencia  ( Spanish pronunciation:  [baˈlensja] ) is the capital city of  Carabobo State , and the third largest city of  Venezuela . The city is an economic hub that contains Venezuela's top industries and manufacturing companies. The population of Valencia and the nearby metropolitan area reached 2,227,165 in 2010, and it is expected to grow dramatically in the years to come.  Caracas  lies some 180 kilometres (112 miles) away to the east.

Barquisimeto, Venezuela ( Spanish pronunciation:  [barkisiˈmeto] ), Venezuelan city , capital of the state of Lara and head of Iribarren Municipality . It is an important urban, industrial, commercial and transportation center of the country, recognized as the fourth largest city by population and area in Venezuela after Caracas , Maracaibo and Valencia .

Maracaibo  ( Spanish pronunciation:  [maɾaˈkaiβo] ) is a city and municipality in northwestern  Venezuela , on the western shore of the strait that connects  Lake Maracaibo  to the  Gulf of Venezuela . It is the second-largest city in the country (after the national capital  Caracas ) and the capital of the state of  Zulia . The population of the city is approximately 1,495,200 [1]  with the  metropolitan area  estimated at 2,108,404 as of 2010. [2]  Maracaibo is nicknamed  La Tierra del Sol Amada  ("The Beloved Land of the Sun").

Cartagena  or  Cartagena de Indias  ( Spanish pronunciation:  [kartaˈxena ðe ˈindjas] , "Cartagena of the Indies "), is a city on the northern coast of  Colombia  in the  Caribbean Coast Region  and capital of the Bolívar Department . The port city had a population of 892,545 as of the 2005 census. It is the  fifth-largest city in Colombia and the second largest in the region, after  Barranquilla . The Cartagena urban area is also the fifth-largest urban area in the country. Economic activities include maritime and petrochemicals industry, as well as tourism. The city was founded on June 1, 1533, and named after  Cartagena, Spain . However, settlement in this region around Cartagena Bay by various indigenous people dates back to 4000 BC.
