San Miguel de Allende is a city and municipality located in the far eastern part of the state of Guanajuato in central Mexico . It is part of the macroregion of Bajío . [1] It is 274 km from Mexico City and 97 km from the state capital of Guanajuato . [2] Historically, the town is important as being the birthplace of Ignacio Allende , whose surname was added to the town’s name in 1826, as well as the first municipality declared independent of Spanish rule by the nascent insurgent army during the Mexican War of Independence . However, the town waned during and after the war, and at the beginning of the 20th century was in danger of becoming a ghost town . Belize City Belize Belize City is the largest city in the Central American country of Belize and was once the capital of the former British Honduras . The population of Belize City is 67,964, with neighboring suburbs adding up to about 80,000. [3] It is located at the mouth of the Belize River on the coast of the Caribbean . The city is the country's principal port and its financial and industrial hub. Several cruise ships drop anchor outside the port and are tended by local citizens.
