Ciudad del Este Paraguay

Ciudad del Este  ( Spanish  for  City of the East ) is the second largest city in  Paraguay  and capital of the  Alto Paraná Department , situated on the  Rio Paraná . As of 2008 its population was of 320,782. Founded in 1957, it was originally called  Puerto  Flor de Lis , then until 1989  Puerto Presidente Stroessner , after  Alfredo Stroessner . The city is the seat of the  Roman Catholic Diocese of Ciudad del Este . CDE was, according to Forbes, the third commercial city in the world between 1990 and 2002. Nuestra Señora Santa María de la Asunción  ( Spanish pronunciation:  [asunˈsjon] ,  Guarani :  Paraguay ) is the  capital and largest city of  Paraguay . The  Ciudad de Asunción  is an autonomous capital district not part of any  department . The  metropolitan area , called  Gran Asunción , includes the cities of  San Lorenzo ,  Fernando de la Mora ,  Lambaré ,  Luque ,  Mariano Roque Alonso ,  Ñemby ,  San Antonio ,  Limpio ,  Capiatá  and  Villa Elisa , which are part of the  Central Department . The Asunción metropolitan area has more than 2  million  inhabitants. The Municipality of Asunción is listed on the Asunción Stock Exchange , as  BVPASA :  MUA , a unique feature of any city. It is the home of the national government, principal port, and the chief industrial and cultural centre of the country.

Arica  is a  commune  and a port city with a population of 196,590 in the  Arica Province  of northern  Chile 's  Arica y Parinacota Region . Temuco  is a  city  and  commune ,  capital  of the  Cautín Province  and of the  Araucanía Region  in southern  Chile . The city is located 670 kilometres (416 miles) south of  Santiago  at the heart of the modern Araucanía Region and  historic Araucanía —the land of the  Mapuche  who  resisted Spanish conquest . Temuco was founded by Chilean military in Mapuche territory 1881 during the  occupation of Araucanía  and grew quickly into one of Chile's main cities. Temuco grew as a consequence of the livestock, wheat and forestry boom that its surrounding countryside experienced between 1890 up to the 1940s. La Serena  is a  city  and  commune  in northern  Chile , capital of the  Coquimbo Region .
